Sports Studies is an optional subject that can be taken in KS4

Aim of the Sports Studies Curriculum

To enhance students’ knowledge and understanding of physical activity and sport by developing both practical skills and theoretical insight, encouraging their continued engagement within the sporting sector.

The knowledge the students will have by the end of the course:

Students will have a critical understanding of contemporary issues in sport and their impact on diverse sporting activities.

Students will know how to apply performance skills in two sporting activities and demonstrate leadership skills in one sporting context.

Students will have an understanding of the principles of sports leadership, including problem-solving and decision-making in dynamic and changing situations.

Students will have a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between sport and the media and its application to real-world contexts.

Students will be able to critically evaluate and interpret the representation of sport within various media platforms.
