A Midsummer Night's Dream
Shakespeare Schools Cast Shines in 80s Disco A Midsummer Night’s Dream
On 12th November 2025, our Shakespeare Schools cast lit up the stage at South Hill Park Arts Centre in Bracknell with their vibrant, abridged performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. From the moment the lights came up, the our performers drew the audience into a bold, imaginative retelling of Shakespeare’s classic comedy.
The production was praised widely for its high-energy, ensemble-based approach. Reviewers and audience members alike commented on the strong sense of teamwork that carried the story from scene to scene. The cast’s commitment to creating dynamic stage pictures really stood out.
One of the most memorable elements of the show was its distinctive 80s disco theme. Glitter, neon, and disco soundtracks transformed the Elizabethan tale into something wholly original, giving the performance a joyful spark that set it apart. The concept not only delighted the audience but also showcased the cast’s creativity and willingness to take bold artistic risks.
A Midsummer Night's Dream 2025
12th December marked the final curtain as they performed the show for the final time here in school. As the lights faded, there was a sense of pride — and a touch of sadness — among the performers and creative team.
What a journey it’s been. The cast have been phenomenal, and we’ll miss each other immensely. Thank you to everyone who supported us and helped make this production such a success.
Quotes from the audience:
Definitely took me back to my youth, I thought it was fantastic, the enthusiasm was amazing!
The thing that took me was the expression of emotions from the characters lots of stomping and crying - the actors really went for it!
....the children brought a lovely 80s vibe to the stage and made the play feel very alive and funny
I thought it was amazing, it wasn't what I expected which was great, you could see the hard work and how much the kids wanted to strive and succeed for the show.
