Welcome to Engineering Programmable Systems

Engineering Programmable Systems is an optional subject that can be taken in KS4

Aim of the Engineering Programmable Systems Curriculum

  • Equip students with the knowledge and practical skills to design, build, and program electronic and programmable systems, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and technical competence for real-world engineering challenges.
  • Prepare learners for progression into further education or careers in engineering and technology by developing confidence, independence, and an understanding of safe, professional practices through integrated theoretical and hands-on learning.

The knowledge the students will have by the end of the course:

  • Understand and apply principles of electronic circuits and programmable systems, including designing, constructing, testing, and troubleshooting circuits, and programming microcontrollers to solve real-world engineering problems.
  • Develop practical and vocational skills for progression, such as safe working practices, system integration, and the ability to combine hardware and software for functional engineering solutions, preparing them for further study or careers in technology and engineering.
