Cultural Capital Assemblies: Broadening Horizons at Wavell

Our programme of Cultural Capital Assemblies offers students a window into the fascinating and diverse world beyond the classroom. Covering topics from elephants to Arizona, Leonardo da Vinci to Dungeons & Dragons, there’s something to inspire every student.

Delivered by Wavell staff and students, these assemblies bring personal passions to life—whether rooted in art, history, science, travel, or pop culture. Presenters share what excites them, with the goal of sparking curiosity, engaging interest, and encouraging students to explore new areas.

These assemblies are designed to enrich students’ understanding of the world, providing exposure to a wide range of cultures, ideas, and experiences. They go beyond the traditional curriculum to nurture curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

Key Features:

  • A diverse range of topics ensures students encounter a variety of perspectives and areas of interest.
  • Inclusive delivery, drawing on the backgrounds and interests within our school community.
  • Encourages critical thinking, curiosity, and aspiration, helping students to connect with the wider world.

By inspiring students to discover new ideas and engage with the world around them, our Cultural Capital Assemblies play an important role in personal development and preparing young people for life beyond school.
