The aim of the Creative iMedia Curriculum


The key aims of the Level 1/Level 2 Cambridge National in Creative iMedia curriculum are to:

Develop Knowledge and Understanding of the Media Industry: The qualification provides insight into the media industry, helping students understand how digital media products are planned and how they are used to engage audiences.

Practical Skills for the Media Industry: Students will gain hands-on experience in developing and creating digital media products, such as visual identities and digital graphics, which are essential skills in the media sector.

Creative and Problem-Solving Skills: The course encourages students to think critically, generate creative ideas, and find solutions to problems using media tools and techniques.

Planning and Organization Skills: Emphasis is placed on pre-production planning, distribution considerations, and meeting deadlines, which helps students learn how to organize tasks efficiently and effectively.

Apply Knowledge in Real-Life Situations: The qualification helps students apply their learning to practical, real-world contexts, such as creating media products, working with clients, and developing original ideas.

Preparation for Future Study or Careers: The qualification complements other academic learning and prepares students for further study in media, design, or other creative industries.

Understanding of Media Codes and Techniques: Students will explore how media codes are used to convey meaning, create impact, and engage specific target audiences, enhancing their understanding of how to use media effectively.

  • Ethical and legal considerations in media production, such as copyright, censorship, and intellectual property rights.

Pre-Production Planning:

  • Techniques for planning media products before creation, such as conducting audience research, developing ideas, storyboarding, and creating scripts.
  • Understanding different production roles and how teams collaborate during the pre-production phase.

Media Codes and Techniques:

  • Learning about media codes (such as visual, audio, and symbolic codes) and how they are used to convey meaning, create impact, and engage audiences.
