Ms Amanda Rowley Ms Rowley is the Headteacher at The Wavell School. She joined the school as the sole Deputy Headteacher in January 2004 and took over as Headteacher in April 2005. She is one of the most experienced headteachers in Hampshire and works closely with the garrison and the MoD in support of service children. She is committed to The Wavell School being the best school in which to learn, teach, work and govern. “The Wavell School is a very special place where we acknowledge that each day is about Life Chances and making a positive difference”.

Mr Hicken is our Deputy Headteacher (Curriculum and Standards). He is a very experienced Deputy Headteacher having joined the school as Head of Science in 1997 and becoming Deputy Headteacher in 2005. He is responsible for the curriculum which includes curriculum design, and construction and management of the school timetable. He also monitors the performance of all students across the whole school to ensure standards are maintained and provides analyses for staff, Governors and outside agencies.

Mrs Lisa Hogg is our Deputy Headteacher (Pastoral & Learning). She joined Wavell as Head of History in January 2004 and still teaches History. Her role focuses on Inclusion and Learning, having oversight of the Pastoral Team. Mrs Hogg is the Designated Safeguarding Lead and the Mental Health Lead. "What is special about Wavell is the sense of community, the way that staff and students have a common purpose to support students to be the best that they can be."

Mrs Evans is Assistant Headteacher (Personnel & Training)at The Wavell School, having first joined the school many years ago as an NQT. She teaches German, Spanish and French and still enjoys teaching, now as much as at the start of her career. "Teaching is a job which is interesting, varied and never, ever boring!" Having taught briefly elsewhere, Mrs Evans was drawn back to work at The Wavell, because of the friendliness and ethos here. Mrs Evans is the Assistant Designated Safeguarding Lead. "There is a real sense of community, which helps everyone feel that they belong and each member of the community, whether staff or student, is encouraged to develop to their potential."

Mr Mark Pike Mr Pike joined the school in January 2019 as Assistant Headteacher (Inclusion & Intervention), having come from the Senior Leadership Team at Rowhill School. Prior to that, Mr Pike was at Court Moor School for 12 years; during his time there he had held the roles of Head of PE and Head of Year. He teaches PE and is extremely passionate about the subject. Mr Pike is the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. “Having visited The Wavell in 2016 what struck me was the strong sense of community within the school. The school’s ethos of ‘We Care to Challenge’ was clearly evident and I left feeling that this was a place where I would one day love to work. I now feel very fortunate to have been given this opportunity and look forward to working with the fantastic staff and students here.”

Helen Blunden joined The Wavell School in September 2015 as Bursar. Helen’s responsibilities include the financial management of the school with a core purpose of developing, directing and coordinating the full range of school financial and administrative services. Helen is also actively involved in the strategic development of the school covering such areas as site and the overall school business. “This role is challenging and extremely rewarding with each day being different. I thoroughly enjoy working with such dedicated, caring and knowledgeable professionals in a school were the students are given the opportunity to develop their learning. The Wavell School has a lovely feel to it and successfully works within the local community.”
