Mrs Emma Wright

Mrs Wright is the Headteacher at The Wavell School and was appointed in 2023.  She has 20 years of experience working in Secondary Schools and prior to her appointment at The Wavell School, was Deputy Head at Collingwood College in Camberley where she held several responsibilities including Curriculum innovation, Staffing, IT Strategy and Timetabling.  Mrs Wright is passionate about Teaching and Learning and continues to enjoy teaching English.  She is resolute in her determination for The Wavell School to continue to flourish and hold a position of excellence at the heart of our community.

“Within minutes of my first visit to The Wavell School, it was clear that this is a special place.  Students, staff and governors all spoke affectionately about the school and the “Wavell Way.”  Staff and students feel an incredible sense of pride at belonging to the Wavell community and it is infectious!  It was a huge honour and privilege to have been appointed to work in such a successful and dynamic school and I am excited to be part of the team.”

Mr Stuart Hicken

Mr Hicken is our Deputy Headteacher (Curriculum and Standards). He is a very experienced Deputy Headteacher having joined the school as Head of Science in 1997 and becoming Deputy Headteacher in 2005. He is responsible for the curriculum which includes curriculum design, and construction and management of the school timetable. He also monitors the performance of all students across the whole school to ensure standards are maintained and provides analyses for staff, Governors and outside agencies.

"Having been in the school since 1997, it has been a privilege to see the school develop and evolve over many years and to see so many students leave with such fantastic results. Two of the best aspects of the job is the opportunity to talk to parents at the Year Group Partnership Evenings, developing those relationships as we move through the 5 years and walking around a lovely calm school and seeing all the wonderful learning that is taking place in the classrooms."
