Visit from Shoei Tokyo Girls' High School

On Tuesday 19th July the Japanese Club and the Languages Department were delighted to host a group of 35 students accompanied by 3 teachers from Shoei Tokyo Girls’ High School who were visiting Wavell as part of a trip to the UK organised through the University of Winchester.

43 Wavell students comprising of Year 10 Language students & Japanese Club members buddied up with our guests and we joined together for a range of activities. Here is a flavour of our fun day together along with some of the comments from the participants both Shoei and Wavell:

Getting to Know You Speaking Activity:  


“It was good for breaking the ice”

 “I was able to make new friends”

Registration in a Wavell Classroom:


“I’ve never seen a class room in another country”

“Nice to show them what it’s like at our school”

Languages Cultural Festivals Lesson:


“It is a little difficult but I can learn German” 

“So much fun to work together”

Shoei led workshops on Origami, Kimono, Calligraphy:


“We all laughed together

Very much enjoyed learning about other cultures”
